Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is called KL by locals. Its modern skyline is dominated by the 451m tall Petronas Twin Towers, a pair of glass and steel clad skyscrapers with Islamic motifs. The towers also offer a public sky-bridge and observation deck. The city is also home to British colonial-era landmarks such as the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Malaysia’s sultry capital packed with historic monuments, steel-clad skyscrapers, lush parks, mega-sized shopping malls, bustling street markets. Also an essential part of the vibrant mix are incense-wreathed, colourfully adorned mosques and temples of the country’s Malay, Chinese and Indian communities. A reverence for these ancient cultures is balanced with a drive to be plugged into the contemporary world, as evidenced by an exciting contemporary art and design scene and a buzzing digital economy.

In the beginning of the 19th century Singapore became a trade post and settlement of the British East India Company and some years later a British Crown Colony. Singapore is today (beside Monaco) the most densely populated independent country in the world. Its strategic location combined with a largely corruption-free government, a skilled work force, pro-foreign investment and export-oriented, led to a successful free-market economy which attracts International investment funds on a large scale despite its relatively high-cost operating environment. Singapore is famous for its shopping activities, dining and entertainment.
